Minnesota ASHP Collaborative

CEE is collaborating with utilities to accelerate the market adoption of air source heat pumps (ASHP) accross Minnesota. Head over to mnashp.org to access various resources for contractors and utilities.

We aim to ensure by 2030 that ASHPs are the first choice for contractors and homeowners replacing electric and delivered-fuel heating systems or air conditioners, and that every installed system will be optimized to provide heating as well as cooling.

Benefits of Air Source Heat Pump Technology

ASHPs are a high-efficiency technology with the potential to improve heating and cooling as well as lower energy costs. As the technology has advanced in recent years, variable-speed heat pumps have emerged as an even higher-efficiency option for heating and cooling residences in all climates.

This new cold-climate heat pump technology can operate efficiently at as low as -20°F and can save homeowners 30%–55% on home heating costs. In Minnesota, there are nearly 585,000 households with electric or propane heat that stand to benefit significantly from a switch to heat pumps.
