BuildUp MN, a CEE-led statewide program supporting code officials, designers, and contractors with energy code compliance will have two representatives, Julia Wells and Jett Roeser, present a session on the 2024 Minnesota Commercial Energy Code, focused on HVAC requirements that are particularly complex or are often missed by designers. Topics will include HVAC equipment and control requirements, successfully implementing verification, testing, and commissioning requirements, considerations for projects following a performance pathway, and how to properly demonstrate compliance on construction documents to ensure a smooth permitting process.
We will also use real world compliance data and learnings from recent Minnesota projects we’ve reviewed through our Community Code Support program to illustrate common design challenges and areas of noncompliance. Finally, we will present a high-level overview of key changes we'll see in the next Minnesota Commercial Energy Code, likely effective in 2028.
