MEEA’s annual Midwest Energy Solutions Conference gathers energy stakeholders to highlight accomplishments in energy efficiency and examine the year ahead for programs and policy in the Midwest. CEE is a sponsor of the event and will participate with a booth and presenters, to be announced. Research engineer, Ranal Tudawe, will be presenting at Break-Out C1 entitled: No Need to Freak, Let's Talk Winter Peaks. The presentation is Wednesday, January 28th from 2:00 - 3:15 pm at Grand Ballroom Salon 1.

"The landscape for demand-side management (DSM) planning is swiftly changing. As utilities face rising demand from electrification not only are loads rising -- peaks are shifting. Utilities across the Midwest are now facing the prospect of winter electric demand peaks and are tasked with reducing this new strain. In this session, we'll hear from researchers modeling the rise of winter peaks and DSM solution pathways, implementors advancing winter DR, engineers enhancing winter heating solutions and utilities seeking to control their winter loads. Join this session to ask all your *freezing* questions."

The 2026 ASHRAE Winter Conference will feature CEE research highlighting the real-world performance of high-efficiency rooftop units (RTUs). CEE staff will present findings from national field studies during two sessions: Evaluating the Field Performance of High- and Standard-Efficiency Heat Pump RTUs, presented by Curtis Harrington and Grant Baumgardner as part of Paper Session 17, Optimizing HVAC Systems: Efficiency, Electrification and Smart Tools, on Tuesday, February 3 from 8:00–9:30 a.m. PST; and Efficient RTU Field Study Results, presented by Grant Baumgardner during Seminar 60, National Efficient Rooftop Unit Energy Modeling and Field Studies, on Wednesday, February 4 from 11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. PST. CEE staff attending the conference include Grant Baumgardner, Tobias Barth, Leah Guenter, Rabi Vandergon, and Ben Schoenbauer.

Join Xcel Energy and CEE at Mendota Heights city hall for a discussion on how organizations can become more energy efficient, leading to cost savings and a reduced carbon footprint. CEE's David Olson will share information on free energy efficiency consulting, free smart thermostats, and rebates available to businesses through CEE's One-Stop Efficiency Shop.
