Congratulations to the cities of Northfield and Falcon Heights for winning the 2021 Intercity Home Energy Squad Challenge!

Learn more about the winners

The Intercity Home Energy Squad® Challenge was formed to challenge residents to get a home energy visit through the Home Energy Squad to learn how their home uses energy and identify energy-saving opportunities. By learning more about their home’s energy use, residents can be better stewards of our resources and increase their home’s comfort by making small improvements.

CenterPoint Energy and Xcel Energy are now offering no cost virtual Home Energy Squad visits in addition to discounted in-home visits to meet customers at their comfort level in accordance with current social distancing practices and CDC guidelines. All types of visits count toward the goal.

We are tracking each city’s participation in Home Energy Squad. At the end of the year, the city with the highest participation per capita wins. There are four categories of the Challenge:

  1. Highest HES participation per capita
  2. Highest HES participation per capita (income qualified visits)
  3. Most air sealing and insulation jobs completed per capita
  4. Community Champions
