Sophia joined CEE in 2024 and is an Energy Codes Project Manager, working to improve commercial energy code compliance throughout Minnesota. She leads market engagement efforts for BuildUp MN, building relationships across the state’s commercial design and construction community and identifying opportunities to advance energy code compliance through collaboration, education, and technical assistance. She develops training materials, educational resources, and outreach strategies that support industry professionals and local jurisdictions. In addition, Sophia serves as the Tribal Nations liaison for the Efficient Technology Accelerator (ETA), where she coordinates engagement with Tribal Nations in Minnesota and supports organization-wide efforts to advance Tribal energy goals and community priorities.
Prior to joining CEE, Sophia worked in the construction industry, completing technical drawings for high-performance architecture projects. She also worked as a Plan Reviewer for the City of Duluth, where she reviewed building plans for code compliance.
Passionate about the intersection of sustainability, equity, and the built environment, Sophia brings an interdisciplinary perspective to her work and serves on CEE’s DEI Council. She holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Anthropology and Environmental Studies, with an individualized concentration in Health, from Luther College and is pursuing a Master of Science in Sustainable Management through the University of Wisconsin–Stout.
