Congratulations to the Hennepin County Efficient Buildings Collaborative for earning a National Association of Counties 2021 Achievement award in the Resiliency: Infrastructure, Energy & Sustainability category. The Efficient Buildings Collaborative provides a standardized and cost-effective platform of resources for small and mid-size cities to adopt energy benchmarking programs and policies.  Benchmarking the energy use of large buildings is an important strategy for cities to achieve climate and energy goals.

As a proud partner of the Collaborative along with Great Plains Institute and Overlay Consulting, CEE has played a key role in helping to design the model and now supports cities with policy and program development. To date, CEE has worked with the cities of Edina, Rochester, St. Louis Park, and Saint Paul to successfully engage internal and external stakeholders in developing benchmarking programs and policies as part of the Collaborative.

Because of this work, Minnesota is now second only to California with the number of cities with benchmarking policies.
