Eric manages the technical aspects of the Energy Codes Program within the Market Transformation department. In this role, he works closely with the state to support its goal of dramatically increasing the energy efficiency of new buildings over the next 15 years through updates to the state energy code and improvements in code compliance. His work includes identifying new technologies and strategies to incorporate into the code, conducting research and analysis to evaluate these innovations, and developing educational resources and training for key stakeholders.
Prior to joining CEE, Eric worked as a senior energy solutions engineer at Xcel Energy, where he focused on electrification strategies in gas-constrained territories and served on the IECC 2027 Residential Codes voting committees. Before that, he worked as an Energy Engineer at Franklin Energy, providing consulting services to architects, engineers, and building owners through utility above-code prescriptive and custom commercial new construction rebate programs.
Earlier in his career, Eric served as a senior utility program manager at Willdan, overseeing the design and delivery of above-code, simulation-based commercial new construction utility programs across Minnesota, Illinois, and Indiana. In that role, he also provided energy modeling consulting to help program participants design and operate sustainable, high-performance buildings.
Outside of work, Eric enjoys camping, hiking, and traveling with his wife and three kids. He’s also somewhat of a habitual hobbyist, but his main passions are playing guitar and competing in a summer wiffleball league.
