Intercity Challenge

Minnesota cities are promoting free Home Energy Squad virtual visits to help their residents keep energy bills low and homes comfortable this summer.

The Intercity Home Energy Squad® Challenge was formed to challenge residents to get a home energy visit through the Home Energy Squad to learn how their home uses energy and identify energy-saving opportunities. By learning more about their home’s energy use, residents can be better stewards of our resources and increase their home’s comfort by making small improvements.

CenterPoint Energy and Xcel Energy are now offering no cost virtual Home Energy Squad visits in addition to discounted in-home visits to meet customers at their comfort level in accordance with current social distancing practices and CDC guidelines. All types of visits count toward the goal.

We are tracking each city’s participation in Home Energy Squad. At the end of 2020, the city with the highest participation per capita wins. A traveling trophy will be on display for the winning city.
