Energy Technician
The Center for Energy and Environment (CEE) seeks an outgoing and highly motivated individual to provide in-home residential energy analysis in support of CEE’s Residential Programs. The home visits are conducted in partnership with the Energy Counselor. The Energy Technician will be primarily responsible for the technical aspects of the CES home visit, including conducting building diagnostics, identifying major retrofit opportunities, and providing bid specifications for insulation/air sealing. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills and enjoy working with a wide variety of homeowners in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Metropolitan Area.
Responsibilities
Specific tasks and responsibilities include:
- Coordinating the Home Energy Visit with the Energy Counselor.
- Conducting the Home Energy Visit according to the established protocols, including the following:
- Performing blower door and combustion safety testing.
- Inspecting insulation levels in walls and attics.
- Preparing insulation and air sealing estimates.
- Communicating with the Energy Counselor throughout the Home Energy Visit with respect to upgrade recommendations.
- Assisting the Energy Counselor and homeowners with product installations, as time allows.
- Reviewing and reinforcing upgrades recommendations with homeowners.
- Managing time to complete visits according to schedule.
- Accurately recording and entering data into the tracking database.
- Accurately managing product inventory.
- Driving the Home Energy Visit van.
Qualifications
- Excellent customer relations skills and experience.
- Experience with sales a plus.
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
- Experience with training/teaching a plus.
- Solid knowledge of and demonstrated experience with building science, residential energy efficiency and residential building construction, and the capacity and interest to learn more.
- Building Performance Institute (BPI) Building Analyst or similar certification a plus.
- Basic computer and keyboard competency.
- Driver’s license required.
Working Hours
Position is full-time 40 hour/week that requires evening and weekend hours
Compensation
Salary based on qualifications and experience starting at $15.00 per hour with a comprehensive package of benefits.
