Hotel Ivy

Hotel Ivy was battling excessive chilled water usage, especially during winter months. After review of initial issues CEE recommended its Existing Building Commissioning Services (EBCx) to comprehensively identify savings opportunities.

Detector Electronics

A comprehensive recommissioning study of Detector Electronic’s main manufacturing facility was conducted in 2009.

Horizon Middle School

Despite the recent construction of the school, Horizon Middle School used excessive amounts of energy throughout the year and there were comfort and pressure issues in the building.

Bloomington Office Tower

Of three similar electrically heated buildings in the complex, this office building had the highest use per square foot. Comparison with other office buildings in the Upper Midwest showed that its source energy use was in the top 10 percent.

Pantages Theatre

Pantages Theatre had high energy use. The NRG Energy Center, which provides steam and chilled water to the theater, wanted to reduce their customers’ energy cost and decided to fund an Existing Building Commissioning study.

Stonebridge Elementary School

Despite the installation of new equipment in 2002, Stonebridge Elementary used excessive amounts of energy throughout the year and there were comfort complaints by the school staff. As a result, Stillwater Area School district asked CEE to recommission the building.

Minnesota’s Public Building Enhanced Energy Efficiency Program

The State of Minnesota allocated federal stimulus funds and contracted with the Center for Energy and Environment to administer a commissioning program for existing public buildings.

Braemar Arena

CEE recommended comprehensive energy efficiency improvements to be coordinated with arena operations and budget planning.

IDS Center

In 2015, CEE began multi-year investigation to assess and improve energy efficiency in the 57-story office tower.

Schwans Super Rink 1-4

CEE worked with the National Sports Center to identify energy savings and opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
