Event description from Environmental Initiative:
The energy system is currently undergoing a massive transformation. Changing customer demands and access to new technologies are shifting us toward a more decentralized power system. This increasingly complex relationship between energy consumers and producers is also increasing the uncertainty utilities face as they make decisions about their long-term investments in electricity generation and distribution. Because it is one of the most important processes that determines what the future energy system will look like, the Integrated Resource Planning (IRP) process, is a place where the pressures of this change are being felt most acutely.
This forum will explore how the IRP process could evolve to accommodate a more diverse electric generation system and changing consumer demands, as well as support balanced investment in a more efficient, more renewable, and lower-carbon grid.
