Power Plant Retirements: Community Perspectives and Realities

This webinar provides an overview of the study "Minnesota's Power Plant Communities: An uncertain future," and is followed by a panel discussion featuring representatives from each host community profiled in CEE's study.

Communities and workers face important challenges related to plant closures which are, in turn, key issues for Minnesota’s clean energy transition. To better understand the perspectives of communities facing power plant retirements, CEE assessed the social and economic impacts of five plants — all eligible for retirement over the next 20 years — across six communities that "host" them. This webinar features an overview of this study and a panel of representatives from the cities of Becker, Cohasset, Monticello, Oak Park Heights, and Red Wing, as well as the Prairie Island Indian Community.
