Condensing Boiler Optimization

This presentation is a research update for an ongoing Conservation Applied Research and Development (CARD) grant project studying residential condensing boiler operation and optimization. The Neighborhood Energy Connection, in partnership with the Center for Energy and Environment, have been monitoring nine previously installed condensing boilers in the Twin Cities since October 2015. Research goals are to understand how condensing boilers are being installed and set up in homes and to identify methods for optimizing performance. Ultimately, this research will go into producing a quality installation guide for Minnesota utilities and contractors. This session will include monitored usage data as well as findings from HVAC contractor interviews.
