Stack Flow and Loss Measurements of a Commercial Tank Water Heater
The purpose of this study is to better understand the stack losses of a commercial tank water heater. The measurements will be used to help interpret an ongoing study of the heater energy use and domestic hot water demand and estimates of standby losses.
Support of the Joint Foundation Insulation Study Conducted by Robinson Technical Services for Oak Ridge National Laboratory
MEO oversaw ten of the installations through its normal Operation Insulation program activities. This included the program audit and bid specifications, on-site management, inspection and quality control, program administration, financing, and loan processing. Retrofit costs were paid by the homeowners.
Small Commercial Needs Assessment. Part 1: Analysis of NSP Small Commercial Database
The Minneapolis Energy Office worked with Northern States Power to investigate the potential for a small commercial conservation program that would supplement NSP's current programs.
Multifamily Baseline Study. Part 2: Gas End Use Characterization
Since no adequate baseline data was already available, our office selected and studied a sample of buildings.
Evaluation of the Operation Insulation Program
Operation Insulation was created in 1983 to assist homeowners in implementing major weatherization improvements.
Providing Boiler Tune-Ups for Multifamily Buildings, Efficiency Improvements and Contractor Training
Fourteen multifamily boilers in need of efficiency improvements received tune-ups from one of the Minneapolis Energy Office's five multifamily program contractors.
Non-Heating Electric Use and Conservation Potential Among Energy Assistance Program Recipients in Minneapolis
Low income energy programs in Minneapolis have focused on gas used for space and water heating. After high electric bills were found in one program, Northern States Power Company and the City of Minneapolis undertook a joint study of electric use among Energy Assistance Program recipients.
Determining Applicability of Front-End Modular Boilers, Modeling Retrofit Performance Assessing Project Management
Shortest payback periods were for those buildings that had the largest boilers relative to the building heating demand. The average pre-retrofit efficiencies for the three DHW system options examined were nearly equal.
An Evaluation of Coordinated Energy Services, A Comprehensive Low Income Conservation Program
In 1985, six Minneapolis government and non-profit agencies formed Coordinated Energy Services (CES) at the prompting of the local gas utility.
Optimizing the Conversion of Heating Systems from Two Pipe Steam to Hot Water
Based on investigations in three multifamily buildings, options for reducing costs and optimizing performance of TPS conversion were considered. A variety of boiler retrofit options, zoning techniques and control strategies were studied.
