News: CEE recognized for efficiency efforts in new homes construction

Oct 23, 2020

CEE's New Homes Program recently recieved two Builder Awards for High Efficiency New Homes from Xcel Energy and CenterPoint Energy. CEE received highest honors in the categories:

  • Highest Average Total Savings per Conditioned Square Foot and

  • Highest Average Gas Savings per Home.

Both awards highlight CEE's expertise as a certified rater or the Home Energy Rating System (HERS), Minnesota’s industry standard for predicting home energy efficiency.

CEE's New Homes team partners with builders and architects to create innovative, energy efficient, and comfortable homes that align with industry-standard home energy certifications and ratings. From design through construction, the team works with builders to assess and improve HERS scores.

In addition to the awards given to CEE directly, the nonprofit was also a partner in three other projects that received Builder Awards:

CEE helps builders navigate mulitiple energy ratings, code testing, and certifications in pursuit of their project's energy efficiency goals. "We're proud to work with skilled builders and architects who share our commitment to building energy efficient homes as cost-effectively as possible," said program manager Phil Anderson. "Doing good work is its own reward, but these awards are much-appreciated icing on the cake. We feel very honored."
