Staff Use Aerosol Sealant on First Multi-Unit Dwelling

Oct 27, 2014

The week of Oct. 27th CEE staff Dave Bohac, P.E., Director of Research,  Ben Schoenbauer, Senior Research Engineer, and Andrew Lutz, Research Analyst, are sealing their first apartments using an aerosol method developed by University of California, Davis, researchers. A University of California, Davis, staff member is coming to Minnesota to train the staff on the use of the equipment. Over this next year they will be sealing fifteen to twenty new construction units and eight to twelve existing units. This technology has the potential to seal the units tighter than with conventional methods and at less cost. The goal is to reduce energy use from air infiltration and reduce odor/air transfer between units.
