The Minnesota Center for Energy and Environment hosted a stop on its conservation tour Tuesday at Midtown Foods in Winona, showing how conservation programs run through Xcel Energy have benefited business and residential energy customers across Senate District 28.
"This tour highlights how important it is to promote energy efficiency," said Minnesota State Sen. Jeremy Miller, R-Winona, who represents District 28. "Long term, energy savings give us more light for less wattage."
Matt Esch, assistant manager at Midtown Foods, explained several of the projects the store has completed as part of the Conservation Improvement Program, a state rebate offer run through local utilities — and using no state funding — that helps businesses and homeowners afford energy-saving technologies....
