Media: Nonprofit pitches energy savings to lawmakers (Mankato Free Press)

The CIP has offered incentives and rebates for businesses and organizations to become energy efficient for more than 30 years. In 2007, lawmakers tied the CIP to a clean energy initiative which created an annual goal for gas and electric utilities to save 1.5 percent of average retail sales starting in 2010.
House Republicans had targeted the CIP during the last legislative session, in part because smaller utilities companies and energy cooperatives were hard-pressed to make the annual goal under CIP guidelines.
Yet many businesses, including agricultural operations and local warehouses, have benefited by taking advantage of CIP incentives...
