New Faces: Recent CEE staff additions
Several new staffers have joined CEE’s residential, engagement, program development, and I.T. teams in the last few months. Our employees are our greatest asset, and we’re happy to welcome these six new colleagues to our growing staff.
Glen Fisher, Energy Efficiency Program and Policy Associate. Prior to CEE, Glen worked for Xcel Energy with commercial/industrial customers and has advised a wide variety of Minnesota business types on energy management. Before that, he worked for Next Step Energy doing site assessments, project management, and educational outreach regarding renewable energy, high-efficiency heating, and off-grid power systems. As an Energy Efficiency Program and Policy Associate at CEE, Glen supports the City of Saint Paul's efforts toward a citywide energy action plan, including efforts to increase building energy performance in the public, institutional, commercial, and industrial sectors.
Scott Franke, Energy Counselor. Before Scott started at CEE, he had an engineering internship at Palermo’s Pizza in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He also served as a quartermaster at Wilderness Canoe Base, a summer camp in the Boundary Waters, where he managed the building where camping equipment was stored. At the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Scott studied Biological Systems Engineering and also received a certificate in Engineering for Energy Sustainability. As an Energy Counselor, Scott installs energy efficient products during home visits and informs homeowners about practical tips to improve energy efficiency.
Jamie Johnson, Community Energy Program Coordinator. Jamie comes to CEE after serving as a Minnesota GreenCorps member with the City of Hutchinson, focusing on energy conservation. There, she worked on a number of environmental initiatives including developing outreach for the City's ENERGY STAR Challenge and implementing and tracking sustainability measures within the GreenStep Cities framework. As a Community Energy Program Coordinator, Jamie works with Xcel Energy's Partners in Energy program to provide assistance to local governments and community entities in their efforts to reduce energy consumption.
Maureen Quaid, Senior Energy Efficiency Project Manager. Throughout her career, Maureen has promoted energy efficiency and renewable energy through program strategy, design and research, operational management, policy analysis, regulatory advocacy, and communications. Most recently she served as an energy efficiency program developer at New Mexico’s largest electric utility company, PNM. Before that, she was a senior associate with the Southwest Energy Efficiency Project in Boulder, Colorado. At CEE, Maureen will assist in the design and development of new programs to better serve energy service customers and promote energy efficiency.
Suren Vijayakumar, Software Engineer. Before joining our team, Suren specialized in web application development as a software developer at Blue Earth Interactive working on projects like SNAP, a .NET application that coaches and tests students (and uploads scores to the instructor) at over 200 schools. Suren honed his skills through earlier experience as a software engineer at Prime Digital Academy, a senior CAD manager at Landform Professional Services, and a software engineer at CTC. At CEE, Suren supports the development of software to serve energy delivery monitoring and refinement.
Kevin Zickert, Energy Counselor. Prior to CEE, Kevin focused on land conservation and sustainable redevelopment, including work with Minnesota Brownfields to provide technical assistance and research to local municipalities regarding the assessment and redevelopment of environmentally contaminated sites statewide. He also provided assistance with GIS mapping and land easement monitoring for the National Park Service along the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway. As an Energy Counselor, Kevin installs energy efficient products during home visits and informs homeowners about practical tips to improve energy efficiency.
