Why CEE?: CEE shares my value of intellectual curiosity to get to the root of problems, while working at multiple levels — policy and on the ground programs — to achieve lasting change.
In Carl's words:
I might be proudest of CEE's work to help shape the City of Minneapolis' Clean Energy Partnership. This first-in-the-nation collaborative between the City and its energy utilities is at the forefront of local government
efforts to be more effective in combatting climate change. Our work to create the effort's framework
is exemplary of CEE's standard approach — leveraging the interests of multiple parties with a practical orientation and effective actions.
CEE is in a constant state of evolution because we strive to bring state of the art innovation to all we do — but the state of our art is constantly moving. The last 10 years we've seen such explosive growth in energy efficiency that many groundbreaking things we were doing a while back are now commonplace. One constant has been CEE's problem-solving to design solutions based on data and research, test out new strategies, and continuously improve our approaches.
My focus is to improve our existing programs while developing new ones. Our residential program team is responsible for some amazing innovations in the home energy performance realm. Along with our utility partners, we have implemented a pilot program in the City of Minneapolis to make the process of energy retrofits easier for homeowners, utilizing technology and partnerships with contractors. It's a great example of a thriving program where I think we can continue to make improvements and build on our success so far.
