Staff Spotlight: Dave Bohac
Name: Dave Bohac, Director of Research
Time at CEE: 28 years
Hometown: Rolling Meadows, IL
Favorite school subject: Thermodynamics
Why CEE?: I strive to conduct and help others conduct research that provides thorough and unbiased information on building energy use and indoor air quality.
In Dave's words:
CEE is known for its in-depth understanding of a wide range of energy issues, and also for its capacity to study and provide insights on new topics. For example, I believe aerosol sealing technology has potential to make a significant impact on producing tighter residential buildings, and CEE's research efforts are helping to make that happen.
Going forward, I imagine CEE's energy research will continue to expand from our original Minnesota focus to have a greater impact on issues and opportunities nationwide.
I'm happy to direct a research team that helps identify new technologies and methods to reduce energy use along with improving our general understanding of building energy use and indoor air quality. And I still enjoy the challenge of performing difficult and complex field work too — for example, it’s hard to top the feeling of accomplishment when it's 3 a.m. and you've just worked with 10 people to wrap up a whole-building air leakage test on a quarter-million-square-foot building that required 18 blower door fans.
