New Faces: CEE staff additions
Several new staffers have joined CEE in recent weeks. This month, we announce important additions to our residential, lending, finance, noise mitigation, human resources, and engagement teams.
Devin Batkiewicz, Energy Analyst. Prior to CEE, Devin earned his BA in applied physics from Saint John’s University in Minnesota. As an energy analyst, Devin focuses primarily on finding no-cost or low-cost energy saving opportunities for small and medium-sized Minnesota businesses participating in the Energy Intelligence for Industry program. For each participating facility, Devin analyzes data gathered onsite and informs the business about how and when their energy use increases or decreases throughout the day and throughout the week, identifying key areas for potential savings.
Sondra Breneman, Loan Officer. Sondra has more than 10 years’ experience in personal and commercial lending, both in the public and private sectors. Complementing her experience in lending, throughout her career she has built up skills and expertise in organizational management, coaching, and program evaluation, all with a strong emphasis on community development. In 2013, she obtained her master's degree in Community Ministry Leadership from Bethel University. As a loan officer, Sondra connects applicants to a variety of different low-interest, mission-driven lending programs available at CEE.
Ryan Ellis, Contract Manager. Ryan attended William Mitchell College of Law and has been a practicing attorney since 2012. Before joining our team, Ryan worked as in-house counsel and director of operations for a private nonprofit. In addition to his work at CEE, Ryan serves as vice chair on the board of Frogtown Farm. As contract manager Ryan is responsible for managing contract creation, execution, and analysis to maximize financial and operational performance while minimizing risk, for all contracts made with CEE’s customers, vendors, and project partners.
Janet Lauseng, Project Coordinator. Before Janet started at CEE she worked as a construction manager with the Greater Metropolitan Housing Corporation, helping homeowners with home repair and remodeling. All told, Janet brings more than 25 years’ experience working in construction management, where she has enjoyed learning about the latest technologies and applications for home improvement and energy conservation. As project coordinator on the Noise Mitigation Program, which CEE delivers on behalf of the Metropolitan Airports Commission, Janet oversees the installations of sound-dampening materials and works with homeowners to ensure a successful transition.
Julie Reinertson, Human Resources Manager. Prior to CEE, Julie’s human resources career included forays into higher education, food manufacturing, and managed telecommunications and video conferencing. Julie holds a BSB in Human Resources and Marketing from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, an MBA/HR from the University of Phoenix, and an MM/HR from the University of Phoenix. Working at all levels of the organization, Julie is responsible for the oversight and management of the human resources function of CEE, including staffing, organizational development, employee retention, benefits, compliance, and payroll administration.
Claire Swanback, Energy Counselor. Prior to CEE, Claire worked as a program assistant at Californians for Pesticide Reform, an Oakland-area nonprofit focused on reducing the overall use of harmful toxins, and spent time working in outdoor education. Claire has a degree in environmental studies from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington. In her role as an energy counselor for the Home Energy Squad program, which CEE delivers for Xcel Energy and CenterPoint Energy, she installs energy-efficient products and helps homeowners identify opportunities to increase the energy efficiency of their home.
Rabi Vandergon, Research Analyst. Rabi comes to CEE from Vermont Energy Investment Corporation (VEIC), where he worked on a variety of projects such as Vermont Solar Pathways, Vermont's Community Energy Dashboard, zero energy modular homes, development of an employee engagement platform, and management of VEIC's corporate sustainability goals and greenhouse gas accounting. He has both a BA and an MA in environmental studies from Bemidji State University. Rabi's primary role at CEE is to provide targeted research and analysis to support project teams working on a variety of planning, engagement, and technical research projects.
