Why CEE?: Working at CEE, I'm able to provide peace of mind, better comfort, and energy savings to homeowners every day.
In Kyle's words:
CEE is well known for lots of reasons -- but one of our big accomplishments is something people mostly don't even know about.
Anyone who lives in south Minneapolis has heard of homes being "MAC'ed" (pronounced "macked"), which is named for our Metropolitan Airports Commission's noise mitigation program for area homes and schools. Locals know about the successful program that ran from 2008 to 2014 to make home improvements and reduce aircraft noise impacts. But most people don't realize it was actually CEE that carried out the soundproofing. We were a good fit because everything we've learned about air-tightness for energy efficiency also applies to soundproofing.
There's always something exciting going on, and CEE is good at adapting to new opportunities when they arise. We contribute regularly to the state's energy efficiency program planning through studies conducted by CEE's research team and funded through Minnesota's Conservation Applied Research & Development (CARD) grant programs. This year, our policy team helped defuse legislation that would have rolled back energy program initiatives. And thanks to a partnership with the City of Minneapolis, Xcel Energy, and CenterPoint Energy, CEE's Home Energy Squad Enhanced now provides insulation quotes and schedules work to be completed the day of the visit. I work hard to make sure homeowners don't miss out on this ripe timing to complete insulation and air sealing in their homes.
As a certified residential energy auditor, I conduct Home Energy Squad visits for CEE, and I'm proud whenever our program gets rave reviews. Homeowners love the low cost and the bang for buck that they receive through the program. In addition to getting energy savings and better comfort, homeowners love the fact that we may have a few things to teach them about their homes that they didn't already know.
