Staff Spotlight: Chris Duffrin
Name: Chris Duffrin, President
Time at CEE: 1 month
Hometown: Shoreham, NY
Favorite school subjects: History and Computer Science
Why CEE?: No one succeeds alone — I learned early on that to have a significant impact on people's lives you need to be part of a really effective organization.
In Chris' words:
CEE's staff is able to design effective programs because we always start with nuggets of truth. We look not just at how technologies are supposed
to work, but how they actually
work. We don't assume we know the real barriers and motivators to implementing efficiency — we work first to understand, and then apply what we know.
CEE will continue to evolve, as always, by responding to the needs of the community. Our philosophy remains the same — to discover and deploy environmentally sound energy solutions that grow our economy — but the technology is always changing. We will need to help people employ information
technologies alongside the mechanical and "envelope" technologies we know well. I also see us growing our capabilities to scale up solutions, from individual buildings to entire communities.
My role is to ensure that we stay on mission with sound strategies, that people know where we're headed, and that the whole CEE team is functioning really well. It's a great role because I get to interact with every facet of the organization, and I am never the smartest person in the room... Our staff includes local leaders in every arena you can imagine: program design, research, policy, engineering, finance, energy planning, technology, and communications to name a few. All I do is make sure we synchronize those talents toward common goals for the best energy solutions for homes, businesses, and communities.
