Home Energy Loan Program

The Home Energy Loan Program is a statewide program that offers low interest loans to homeowners that want to make energy improvements to their properties.

Home Energy Loan Application - Complete the application and send it to the Center for Energy and Environment at 212 3rd Avenue North, Suite 560, Minneapolis, MN 55401 or fax it to 612-335-2650.

Loan Terms

  • Maximum loan amount is $10,000
  • Interest rate: 5.99%
  • Maximum term 5 years
  • All loans will be secured by a mortgage

Eligible Borrowers

  • No maximum income limit!
  • Borrowers must own the property or be purchasing it through a mortgage or contract for deed
  • You must close on the loan prior to beginning project(s).

Proof of Income

  • If you are employed: submit copies of your two most recent paystubs.
  • If you are retired: submit a copy of your social security benefits or pension.
  • If you are self-employed: submit copies of your Federal Tax Returns for the last 2 years.

Eligible Improvements

  • Improvements can include the following: storm windows * storm doors * furnace * boilers *
    air conditioning * insulation * water heater
  • Applicants must provide bids for each improvement project.

Eligible Structures

  • Owner-occupied, 1-4 unit properties
  • Up to 49% of the residence may be used for business
  • Property must have been built prior to May 1, 1989
