Home Performance Inspection

The Home Performance Inspection is designed to provide you with the latest technology in residential diagnostics to help you properly insulate your home, alleviate ice dams and address home comfort issues. The Home Performance Inspection takes the guess work out of determining the cause of problems around your home. Avoid the expense of 'trial and error' problem solving and invest in an inspection that uses sophisticated technologies and experienced building analysts to find the best solutions for your home. Call Paul at 612-860-0705 to schedule your inspection today.

For a cost of $600, your Home Performance Inspection technician performs a thorough inspection resulting in a full color report documenting existing conditions and making detailed recommendations for insulation and ventilation solutions. The Home Performance Inspection includes:

Inspection of existing wall and attic insulation

Your technician will conduct a visual inspection of your exterior walls and attic to determine if they are adequately insulated.

Blower door test and Infrared scan

A blower door test will be used to measure your home's air leakage. When necessary, an infrared camera will be used to find those leaks. These tools can pinpoint the areas where warm air is escaping to the attic and other heat loss issues.

Safety test on water heater and heating system

Your exhaust appliances will be tested for carbon monoxide and to make sure they are not back-drafting hazardous products into your home.

Full color report including insulation design and other recommended improvements

After the visit, the technician will produce a detailed, custom, full color report outlining an insulation design and other recommended improvements for your home. This report can be shown to bidding contractors to describe the work that should be done at your home, including details of specific corrections that are recommended.

Recommended contractors

CEE will provide you with a short list of contractors whose practices are familiar to us and who follow guidelines set by us to ensure healthy, efficient homes.

Post-installation inspection on completed work

For an additional $150 fee, your technician can return to your home following construction to ensure that work was done according to CEE's recommendations. The insulation work on your home will be inspected using a blower door test assisted by the use of an infrared camera. If work is not done as prescribed, your CEE technician will provide feedback to your contractor to correct any problems.

Low interest financing

The Center for Energy and Environment has several loan programs available to help participants finance their improvements.
