Multifamily
CEE provides technical services for both existing multifamily buildings
and multifamily buildings under contruction. Our evaluations address
all aspects of multifamily buildings including heating, ventilating
and
air-conditioning
systems;
envelope
issues;
indoor air-quality; mold and moisture. These
services focus on providing owners of multifamily buildings with
objective third-party information on costs, savings, reliability,
and other application considerations for various improvements.
CEE is particularly skilled in addressing “problem
buildings” for which solutions have been elusive. CEE does
not sell products. Rather CEE focuses on providing the most objective
information available
that is consistent with the unique
characteristics of each building to ultimately find the best solution
for your problem. For more information contact Mark

New Construction
CEE offers a Multifamily Design Assistance Program for new construction.
Funded
by CenterPoint
Energy, the program is an effort to ensure proper design and construction
of multifamily buildings to capture energy savings, improve building
performance
and increase tenant comfort for the life of the building. The Multifamily
Design Assistance Program uses an integrated systems approach to
the buildings, equipment, staff and utilities,
thereby capturing the total energy cost impacts of various measures.

Case Studies, Fact Sheets and Report
CEE’s nationally recognized multifamily research has included
projects to address tobacco smoke transfer among units, assess the
performance of boilers, boiler system design issues, service hot
water heating efficiency options, energy savings from integral flue
dampers, and energy savings of thermal vent dampers on water heaters
in multifamily buildings. CEE has also conducted several projects
related to energy cost allocation in centrally heated multifamily
buildings, including analysis of energy savings and equity concerns.
The Center for Energy
and Environment has developed a series of fact sheets covering the
operation and maintenance of heating systems and related
topics
specific
to
multifamily
buildings.
